More products should start being designed with this type of electrical cord design. Sleek looking, works well, and wind-up cord at base of unit is great to have. no cord hanging out - or need to wind it up and hide it at the back of the unit while it's not being used on the counter.
So far so good. I have been using this "coffee" grinder primarily for grinding herbs, spices and nuts. I love that it has a removable, dishwasher safe stainless steel grinding cup - a feature lacking in many other coffee grinders.
I'm so happy to have perfectly ground coffee I don't worry about it. The result is the grinder shuts off. It takes all the guess work out of the regular automatic grinders that grind as long as you hold them. The inside of the stainless steel bean cup is marked such that you fill it up to say 8 cups, set the dial for 8 cups, rotate the knob for the type of grind and the grinder delivers perfectly ground coffee.
The machine is not really a "hands free" coffee grinder. It would have been nice to have a longer cord, but I think they made the cord as long as they could without having to make the body thicker or resorting to the dreaded wrap-the-cord-around-the-bottom design. It looks nice, cleans easily, the selection between amount and coarseness of grind make it easy to customize your grind, but I have been very satisfied with the factory settings. Not withstanding the holding of the top the machine has been great. The clear plastic cover/cap has a safety mechanism such that the machine will not grind unless the cover is twisted firmly all the way into place.
Espresso grind 8 cups is about 25 seconds of grinding. I have owned/used it for more than a year now. After some usage, in my case about a month, the cover starts to walk out of position ever so slightly because of the vibration from the grinding motor. Frustrating until I figured out what was going on.I did not return the machine because 1) the solution is simple, hold onto the machine while it grinds away and 2) for that minor inconvenience it is a great grinder.
Also, I need to hold the unit without taking my hands away because it will otherwise stop and will not get started again.Very disappointed. After 1 week I can only get it to work after taking very special care of how to press the on-button, otherwise it does not work at all. Do not waste your money on this one. This grinder is neatly small and has a nice cable storage, but that's about the positives. It grinds coffee, is very loud and has a very flimsy power switch.
When the plastic cup went I was able to replace it right away. In fact, my friend ordered it because of me. It is a great product. this is the best grinder around. I use it every day because I enjoy fresh brewed coffee every time.
